OBJECTIVES

We hope to highlight the artist and his work, his unique itinerary and personality, as well as the universal humanist values he always defended. We believe his extraordinary work is of great interest in terms of art and heritage.”

Who we are?

Due to our family connections (primarily nephews and grand-nephews) with Henry Valensi, and collectors of various artworks, writing, and objects that had belonged to him, we undertook to revisit our knowledge of this artist from the end of the 1980s.

We began with an inventory of the artist’s work.

In 1990, we created the “Association des Amis du Peintre Henry Valensi, chef de file des artistes musicalistes”. From the interest this ignited, we were able to organise two exhibitions:

• in 1990 at the Galerie Drouart, Paris. This included Musicalist artists more broadly and was the occasion of the publication of Qu’est-ce que le Musicalisme?
• in 1996 at the Galerie Patrice Trigano, Paris.

The success of the artist’s rediscovery during the subsequent years led to the creation of the simpler “Association Henry Valensi”, in 2015.

What are our plans?

According to its statutes, the Association aims to develop the reputation and the knowledge of the Henry Valensi and his work for the benefit of the public as well as institutions, on a national and an international level.

A scientific committee will be set up: the Comité Valensi. It can issue certificates of authenticity concerning the works by Henry Valensi. It has an advisory role in relation to the Association, and the legal right owners (grouped in another association called AADPHV).

The name “Henry Valensi” has been trademarked (INPI n° 13 4 003 614, 7 May 2013).
